Welcome

My name is Betty and I have a small hobby rabbitry (Gold Creek Rabbitry) just 10 mins. west of the city of London Ontario Canada. Gold Creek is a small picturesque Creek that flows through our rural farming area. This area consists of approx. 30 sq. km's, stretching over 4 concession roads - also includes Gold Creek Road and Gold Creek Community Club, formed by local farm families approx. 100 yrs ago and still meets once a year at Christmas. Our farm is located in the middle of this area and has existed in the family as long as the club.

I would like to carry on the heritage of the name and believing this to be the first rabbitry ever in the area decided to adopt the name Gold Creek Rabbitry I am a farm wife working in the city as a professional Nanny. I love introducing children to the wonderment of kind, friendly, loving bunnies. The mini rex is known for its sweet temperament. Here at Gold Creek Rabbitry I pride myself on breeding for great temperament and at the same time trying to keep up the breed standard. My bunnies do not bite, nor are they aggressive in any manner. I want children who visit the rabbitry to have a fun experience. My bunnies love to be stroked and petted.

I have had a interest in rabbits since I was a young girl. Sharing at that time the interest with my father and a brother.

I met my first mini rex when my nephew rescued one named Buddy. He was the most beautiful orange, black and white bunny, soft, plush and friendly.

The fur is one of the most notable features of this breed. The fur is approx. 3/8 of a inch in length and when felt with bare hands is like rubbing a piece of plush velvet. The guard hairs are the same length as the under fur giving this extreme plush, silky feeling.

This popular pet and show rabbit has a magnificent plush velvet like coat that must be felt to be appreciated.

My niece and nephew gave me a cross bred kit from Buddies off spring and I was back into rabbits. Now some 4 years later in 2010 I am striving to raise only full pedigree mini rex. I found a tri color buck that looked just like Buddy and made him his name sake.

ARBA standards recognize 17 colors I would love to have 1 of each but that is unrealistic . Colors are: black, castor, blue, chinchilla, opal, tortoise, chocolate, lynx, seal, white, red, Himalayan, himi, lilac solid and broken, REW,seal and otter. The mini rex rabbit is very diminutive rabbit with ARBA guideline max. senior show weight of only 4 1/2 pounds for does and 4 1/4 pounds for bucks.

This is a hobby for me, a form of relaxation. As of fall 2011 I have started showing. I am very pleased with my beginners luck. In 2012 I will continue to attended some Ontario shows and plan to also show in the USA some. I am now raising some great socialized rabbits (some that I have donated are being used as therapy bunnies for challenged children and in hospital and senior home visits) I also raising some good brood and show rabbits and of coarse great affordable pets on occasion .I am always striving to improve my herd and rabbitry. In doing so have met many great folk, both in Canada and the USA. Most of which are listed on my links page.

I make my sight very personal and colorful as many young people follow it regularly and they like it that way. I try to keep it up to date and answer everyone that contacts me through my contact me page.

Be sure to leave a comment on my guest book page and I hope you enjoy my sight.
